Parenting in Holland

The consultatieburo is a health clinic and will be responsible for providing routine healthcare and checking the development of your child from birth until she/he starts primary school at the age of 4.

The district midwife who works at the consultatieburo will visit your home during the first days after your baby is born, to weigh him/her, to take a blood test and to give you a book of information on health and development.

This book will also contain appointment details at the clinic along with weight and measurements at each visit. There´s room for you to make a note of when your baby has reached certain milestones in his/her development. This book is also available in English and is called Het Groeiboek or Growth Book.

*The vaccination against streptococcus pneumoniae was introduced to the national vaccination program 1st June 2006.
